SCRIPTURE:
Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.
James 1:19-24
(NLT)
KEY VERSE:
But don’t just listen to God’s Word. You must do
what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. (v. 22)
THOUGHTS:
It really
doesn’t matter what we know and what we believe unless it shows up in our
everyday lives. You see, faith that is not lived out in our everyday lives is not
faith at all. All of that is a smokescreen and the only one we really fool is
ourselves. When we learn the truth of God’s Word, the only thing left for us to
do is put it into practice!
PRAYER:
Heavenly
Father, I have grown tired fooling myself into believing that I am something
that I really am not. I hear what it is that You are saying to me and I know
what Your will is for my life. Help me to live out my love for You today and
all of the other todays of my life. In the empowering name of Jesus I pray.
Amen.
